The restaurant Chef’s Garden provides a fine dining garden-to-table experience in the oceanside town of Rincon, Puerto Rico. Our restaurant-farm is also a center for job creation. We employ men and women from the community and graduates from our rehab garden program. For the individuals that we employ, this serves as way to gain job experience where, because of their past, they otherwise would not be given the same opportunity. The employees stay with Siembra Vida for an average of 6 months as they transition to more permanent jobs in Puerto Rico and in the United States. We provide work references and help them build their resume. Chef Josiah Hernandez has developed a menu that offers innovative plates of food, a fusion of Puerto Rican and international dishes. We aim to create food which can be experienced through each of the diners’ five senses. The customers are seated around the gardens, amongst the plants that are used in our dishes, allowing them to smell and touch the ingredients they are enjoying. The restaurant also provides yearly donations to Siembra Vida in order to financially support its operations.
